Easy Ways to Live Stream Using a Chromebook!
Live streaming using a Chromebook is quite easy! Your Chromebook's hardware specifications are the only factor that determines whether it runs smoothly. Live streaming requires a lot of computer resources, especially on a Chromebook.

Yes! Live streaming has become a platform for interaction in today's society, as well as a means of earning money. There are many ways to live stream, but the most important things are a camera, streaming software, a streaming platform, and, at a minimum, an internet connection! Without those, what would you do? Haha, that's only if the camera is integrated with the streaming software, thus eliminating the need for a PC. But if not, you definitely need a PC/computer, whether desktop or mobile, like a smartphone.
However, this discussion isn't about streaming using various devices, but rather sharing the experience of live streaming using a Chromebook, which was probably quite rare 3-4 years ago.
So, that's the scope... we're limited to Chromebooks, which are probably still relatively unpopular, and you might be wondering, can a Chromebook be used for live streaming?
Actually, I share most of this discussion in the form of videos on the "RahmanCyber" channel, you can also go directly there to get it quickly, but this time here we are actually just mapping it from what we have made in the form of videos, so that it has more of a story or flow that makes it easier for you to find related videos in one place.
1. The Easiest Streaming using Youtube Web Directly!
Yes, if you're used to streaming on YouTube, for example, you can easily do so here simply by accessing it using your browser.
Because YouTube itself allows you to use the live streaming feature using just a browser, so you don't need to install any additional applications.
I think this is the easiest solution if you have a device with minimal specifications, or a relatively low-spec device like mine, a Samsung Chromebook 4 with a Celeron processor. When running a different operating system, it's quite demanding. However, thanks to the power efficiency of this Chromebook, you can use the Celeron quite smoothly. Although there are limitations when running higher-level applications. While it can, the performance can be quite sluggish, and this is normal for applications that require higher-end hardware.
Of course, we've discussed this in a video that you can access on our channel here.
You can simply click on the video and open it in a new tab for a better viewing experience. If you press play, you won't earn any revenue. It also won't maximize your viewing experience. Therefore, we recommend opening a new browser tab to watch the video.
The method above is for live streaming using your webcam. If you want to share your screen using your laptop, other computer, or other devices, such as a smartphone that supports screen sharing, you can use a capture card, as we've discussed previously on our channel.
You can watch it here.
This video wasn't very popular when we first uploaded it because it was a discussion about Chromebooks. Compared to discussions about Windows, it's far less popular, as Windows users are also more likely to use the operating system. This is also likely because video sharing platforms are now dominated by people accustomed to watching TikTok and other short videos, which are typically fast-paced. So, when we create a long video, some people quickly become bored.
But here, we're trying to provide special bookmarks to get straight to the point. If you don't have much time to watch, you can simply jump to the durations we've provided in the description. Or, if you're not there yet, you can bookmark them to make it easier for other viewers to get straight to the point if they're accustomed to watching TikTok or other short videos, which are typically short.
So, those are some things to discuss about streaming directly using YouTube, which won't burden you if your Chromebook's specifications are low.
Okay, moving on to the second discussion. Here we are trying to use an application that is in the Android environment, namely we are using Streamlabs.
2. Live Streaming Chromebook Using StreamLabs
The StreamLab app itself is also available for Android. You can download it from the Google Play Store, which you've already activated on Chromebooks released since 2017.
This is because Chromebooks from before that year don't support Google Play.
This is a fairly old video, as we first tried live streaming using this Chromebook with this app. You can watch the video here.
We set the video to be as is, so we didn't use any scripting or presentation readings, or anything else. It's completely straightforward, and you can just watch it. It's quite long, at 50 minutes, but it showcases our experience using StreamLab for live streaming, including how I felt using the application. Of course, if we run the application in 2024 or 2025, there might be a difference in performance, as development is much better here. What's clear is that when we tried it on my Chromebook, with a Celeron processor, it was quite stuttering, especially when using more than one layer.
This will certainly detract from a smooth live streaming experience. Some parts of what you're talking about might be missing or stuttering. And sometimes the application refreshes frequently when it's overloaded or when we're using more than one layer.
Of course, this isn't very comfortable, especially if we want to run other applications, such as the recording system. For screen recording, the experience is quite laggy.
So, here's the conclusion: If we really want to use the StreamLabs app, we'll need a Chromebook with higher specifications, at least an i3 processor. Or, you could even buy a Chromebook Plus, which may not be available on the Indonesian market yet. The Pro version requires a minimum of an i3 processor and 8 GB of RAM.
Furthermore, most Chromebook Plus models also have their own graphics card, while some more affordable versions use an internal graphics card.
